Monthly Spotlight: Something to Keep Your Eye On!

Resource Spotlight: Be Red Cross Ready Checklist

September is National Preparedness Month, an annual campaign that reminds communities about the importance of planning for emergencies and disasters. To help families prepare for these situations, the American Red Cross has created a checklist promoting three actions that everyone can take to stay safer: get a kit, make a plan, and be informed. From basic household safety supplies to the importance of considering the needs of all family members, the document outlines different safety strategies that all families can benefit from.

Every community faces different threats, so learn about what families need to be “Red Cross Ready” by reviewing this checklist. For more information on the American Red Cross visit their website and follow them on social media.

CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control awarded $9.29 million to 11 Injury Control Research Centers (ICRC) to develop and share effective injury and violence prevention interventions, tools, and strategies. These efforts aim to reduce the risk of injury and violence and promote overall public health. Congratulations to Columbia University, Emory University, Johns Hopkins University, Medical College of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, University of Iowa, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina, University of Pennsylvania, UT Health Houston, and University of Washington!
