COVID-19 #StayAtHomeSafety Campaign

As the country and the world take on the COVID-19 pandemic, parents and caregivers need our help. With schools, businesses, and public places closing, children are spending more time in the home under circumstances that include altered routines, gaps in supervision, and stress. These conditions put children at increased risk for injury in the home. #StayAtHomeSafety focuses on protecting children from preventable injuries and helps parents and caregivers understand why preventing injury is especially important in the midst of a national emergency.

Prevent Child Injury thanks the many organizations and individuals who have stepped up to help our communities keep safe. By working together, we can use our expertise to mitigate the collateral damage of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While we update this page frequently, we encourage you to become a member to receive our newsletters. Our newsletter goes out each month, and each edition covers a different safety topic. Topics we have addressed include:

  • Window safety

  • Preventing falls in the home

  • Youth sports safety

  • Home playgrounds

  • Bicycle & helmet safety

  • Swimming pool & portable pool safety

  • Sun safety

  • Preventing poisonings in the home

In addition to addressing important safety topics, our newsletter features shareable materials and a list of events including webinars, summits, and other learning opportunities that our members can benefit from. If you or your organization would like us to announce or promote your work in our newsletter, please send us an email.

Take Action

Every month, we are promoting a new action that each family can take to keep their children safer. This month, we want every family to save the Poison Help Hotline number in cell phones and post it visibly near home phones: 1-800-222-1222. If you suspect your child has ingested or been exposed to a poison, call the Poison Help Hotline right away. The Poison Help Hotline specialists answer questions and provide advice free of charge.
