MEDICATION SAFETY RESOURCES

Data collected by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that more than 67,000 children under age 18 are seen in an emergency department for unintentional medication exposures. To keep kids safe around medications in the home, Prevent Child Injury is promoting safe storage, use, and disposal of medications and vitamins during National Poison Prevention Week (March 16-22, 2014).

The toolkit contains:
  • User Guide - a brief description of the materials available and recommendations for use
  • Project Materials - new materials developed by Prevent Child Injury, including a customizable press release
  • Experts - Prevent Child Injury offers access to spokespeople who are the leaders in their field on the chosen injury prevention topic. These experts are available to speak to the media and other interested parties.
  • Existing Resources - resources created by Prevent Child Injury members, including special research reports, brochures, fact sheets, infographics, and links to videos
